About the artist:

Diana Dyer is an artist from Mobile, Alabama who has exhibited her work in several states including Georgia, Rhode Island, Missouri, Alabama, and Indiana. She is drawn to the unity found between fabric, glass, and wood and how the different materials contrast and harmonize together. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2021 at the University of South Alabama with a double concentration in Animation and Glass and is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts.

My work encompasses multiple influences from different artists, technologies, mediums, and styles. I started with animation and glass in my undergraduate studies. As I worked in graduate school I found the contrast of wood and fabric against glass attractive and found ways to incorporate these newer materials into my current work. During my artistic process I listen to music and write down my responses to the various melodies, harmonies, and lyrics according to how it relates to my life or struggles in that moment. I then take these introspective and reflective thoughts and etch them onto my chosen materials to capture this moment of personal transparency. I utilize animation through augmented reality and projection mapping to bridge together the physical and digital aspects of my work as an homage to the duality of my beginnings in the art world. This is achieved by compositing additional digital features to my completed physical works.
